This is a Field / Home Office based role that is also open to Candidates who are Site Based who have a Process Engineering background within Papermaking and who would be interested in developing their career in a specialist role.

Our Globally recognised client offers custom designed parts essential to the production of paper, tissue and cardboard.

We are looking for a Service Engineer (TSR) to work within our client’s busy team, to act as the link between our business and our UK customers. Your time would largely be spent in paper mills across the UK responding to customer needs and ensuring that their expectations are met.


The main duties include:

Listen and get the customer needs and expectations

Provide offers and solutions to our customers

Provide designers the needed information to offer the best PMC solution

Analyse the market size, actors and trends

Market intelligence

Collect and record data from paper machines and carry some statistical analysis.

Should be able to advise machine settings to optimise the performances of our client’s product on the machine.

Report the customer needs and expectations to the technical and sales group.

Identify business opportunities, particularly new applications for existing products.

Identify and report changes and trends occurring within the existing market that could potentially affect future business direction.

Understand and be able to communicate relevant technical and economic features of the products and services offered to our customers.

Handle customer complaints.

Carry out machine surveys on the paper machine. When the machine is using a shoe press belt, some survey on the shoe belt will be also required when the machine is stopped. For other paper grade than tissue, a forming survey and dryer fabric investigation may be necessary.

Collecting and recording data from paper machines and carrying out statistical analysis.

Giving advice on the machine settings to optimise the performance of our product on the machine.

Reporting customer needs and expectations to the Technical and Sales group, liaising between the customer and our company.
Skill Requirements:

The successful candidate will be an effective communicator – at all levels and well organised.

An individual who is self-motivated and able to work for long periods on their own.

Must have knowledge of paper machines and a good understanding of the paper producing and processing industry.

Process Engineer trained and/or qualified.

Computer literate and competent in performing statistical data analysis.

Competent in operating several different types of test equipment.

Maintain a strong sense of team spirit, assisting fellow engineers in meeting customer needs.

Have a fully valid driving licence.


The role involves working in hot, wet environments and often at height. The role involves travel about 60-70% of the time, mainly across the UK but will also involve travel outside of the UK. Therefore, the individual must hold a full valid UK driving licence and be prepared to travel and a company car will be provided. You will be required to work away from home for several days at a time on a weekly basis (working from home the remainder of the time). Given the need to attend a customer’s premises, potentially at short notice, a central location in the UK would be desirable.
