………………………………My Client is seeking to appoint an experienced business development manager to join its senior management team in order to drive further growth through the continual development of the sales department.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, and working collaboratively with the management team, you will take primary responsibility for the Sales and Pricing strategy across the whole company.

This will include looking to maximise output and growth across UK and European manufacturing, distribution and direct supply operations as well as building sales across all channels to both new and existing customers.

The ideal Candidate should have a history of practical sales skills and a good knowledge of the techniques and strategies used to develop customer relationships and build both turnover and margin.

This privately owned packaging business, with manufacturing roots dating back to the 1960s, has evolved and expanded in the last 2 decades, particularly through online growth development, sustainable alternatives and e-commerce packaging. Their product portfolio includes recycled and biodegradable polythene film materials.

Core Role Responsibilities:

Company Growth Leader and Key Account Team Manager: The first step of the role will be to coach, inspire and develop the team through close management and leadership.

Enhancing Key Contact Relationships: You will be the primary point of contact across a portfolio of key prospects and customers, responsible for nurturing, protecting and deepening these relationships. This will include a number of major packaging merchants, end-users, key opportunities, and unique contracts such as with the Royal Warrant.

You should be adept, confident, and keen to lead a team. You will have shown yourself to be effective in delivering a step-change in performance and will be someone that others value as their team leader.

Whilst some relevant experience within packaging might be an advantage, my client is looking for someone with the right skills and personal qualities first & foremost.

An ability to both independently and collaboratively develop processes, expertise and systems is very important. The company ethos is one of genuine teamwork through an enthusiastic willingness to support each other and to try new things. A high value is placed on the loyalty and commitment of all staff.

The Sales Team is a brilliant mixture of experience and recent ‘on-boards’ – with a healthy dose of energy which will welcome the drive and ideas of a new member of the management team.

The Company plan is to continue to intensify their adoption of sustainable products to sell. Along with a move to recycled and biodegradable polythene film materials, the business has been investing in diversification to paper and corrugated packaging.

This is through extra storage (they have recently built an additional warehouse) and developing their procurement and supply chain expertise.

Thanks to strategic partnerships and collaborations, they are now able to competitively source an extensive selection of packaging that complements their own manufactured products.

Looking to the near future, they plan to expand into new product areas both through their existing customer base and new prospects.

They have recently implemented new Packaging projects at their manufacturing site in mainland Europe and digital printing at their UK site.

They are also actively planning to develop Sales further through website developments, improved use of technology and the enhancement of their account management processes.

Would you like to be a key part of their story of growth?

If so, building the right team is vital to my Client and they work hard to create a collaborative and supportive culture.

The structure of the business is through departmental managers and then team supervisors.

The production team is 24 hours 5 days whilst other teams operate across standard working hours.

The senior team is composed of an eight strong management group.

The Business Development Manager will be a core member of this team both in strategy, planning and regular feedback and updates.

Their ethos is one of collegiate problem solving with all views and ideas welcomed.

The management and directors balance a ‘hands on’ approach combined with efficient team leadership – whether it be getting teams together to solve problems, training new staff, getting involved in the social events or just joining in the occasional coffee morning.

The company has an attitude of supporting Managers as they try new ideas or approaches.

Benefits Package

  • A very competitive base salary.
  • Performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits, and other perks that reflect our client’s commitment to your success.
