Job Title: Sales Director
Salary: £To Attract The Best
Location: UK
Reference: J7173
We’re partnering with a well-established, technically strong flexible packaging manufacturer supplying predominantly into the food sector. With a loyal customer base, strong operational capability and new, growth-focused ownership in place, the business is entering an exciting next chapter.
This is a chance for an experienced sales leader to shape the future of a growing manufacturing business — building a modern, customer-centric sales engine and playing a key role in significant planned growth over the next 3–4 years.
The Opportunity
As Sales Director, you’ll have the space and backing to take real ownership of the commercial agenda. You’ll define the sales strategy, develop the team, strengthen key customer relationships and unlock new opportunities — all while working closely with operations and the wider leadership team.
If you enjoy being close to customers, close to the detail, and measured by meaningful outcomes rather than process for process’ sake, this role offers genuine scope and influence.
What You’ll Be Doing
Setting direction and driving growth
- Shape and deliver a clear sales strategy aligned to ambitious, achievable growth plans.
- Translate long-term objectives into practical priorities by customer, sector and channel.
- Partner with senior leadership on pricing, investment and strategic decisions, bringing strong market insight to the table.
Building great customer relationships
- Deepen relationships with key existing customers through structured account management and senior-level engagement.
- Win new, profitable business in food and adjacent markets that fits the company’s strengths.
- Stay close to market trends, customer needs and competitor activity, adapting plans as required.
- Act as a trusted commercial partner to customers at all levels.
Leading and developing the sales team
- Coach, support and develop a mix of field and internal sales talent.
- Create clarity around roles, objectives and expectations, while keeping things practical and achievable.
- Introduce simple, effective sales disciplines around pipeline, forecasting and opportunity management.
Working cross-functionally
- Collaborate closely with operations, technical and finance teams to ensure commitments are deliverable and well-planned.
- Provide clear demand and pipeline visibility to support capacity planning and investment decisions.
- Play a key role in the wider leadership team as the business evolves.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 12–24 months, you can expect to have:
- Put in place a clear, credible commercial plan for the next phase of growth.
- Built or refined a sales team structure that’s aligned to that plan.
- Improved visibility of pipeline, forecasts and account performance.
- Delivered measurable revenue growth with stronger margin quality.
- Established a reputation internally and externally as a decisive, solutions-focused commercial leader.
About You
- A strong background in packaging or print, ideally within flexible packaging or food/FMCG supply chains.
- Currently operating at Head of Sales or Sales Director level with responsibility for both people and a significant revenue number.
- Experienced in driving growth in a manufacturing environment where service, lead times and technical capability matter.
- Commercially astute, with a strong grasp of pricing, margin and customer profitability.
- A confident, credible presence with customers and colleagues alike.
- Structured and disciplined, but pragmatic — you focus on what genuinely moves the dial.
- Comfortable working in an owner-led, fast-moving business where you can see the impact of your decisions.
What’s On Offer
Standard benefits package, with potential for longer-term incentive tied to business growth.
Competitive base salary aligned to experience.
Performance-related bonus linked to clear commercial and strategic outcomes.
