We have an opportunity for a Packaging Technologist to work with a variety of blue-chip, high street retailers and brand owners across global premium markets. The Packaging Technologist holds a key role within New Product Introduction; providing technical input on packaging development projects from receipt of customer brief through to product commercialisation, whilst ensuring that the resulting packaging components comply with the regulations applicable to customers’ chosen distribution markets.

You will demonstrate their FMCG experience and packaging material knowledge to provide support to the production facing teams via attendance at line trials and through innovative problem-solving. As a personable and efficient communicator, the Pack Tech will develop relationships with customer stakeholders as the key packaging contact; they will also provide efficient confirmation of specification changes to supply chain colleagues and in collaboration with suppliers create accurate component specification documentation to ensure that products are delivered correctly, on-time to the agreed project budget.

Skills/experience required:

• IOP Certificate or equivalent and/or significant relevant industry experience

• Good range of technical materials knowledge and packaging development experience

• Keen interest in New Product Development and evolving packaging material and recycling legislation

• Demonstrate ability to efficiently plan, organise and manage own tasks and deliver them to deadlines

• Ability to work individually or collaboratively as a member of a team

• Good people management skills

• Ability to organise, prioritise and multi-task workload

• Flexibility and an ability to react and respond positively to changes in priority and workload

• Ability to retain focus and maintain a calm demeanour under pressure

• Ability to exhibit a professional demeanour and consistently apply the highest ethical standards when dealing with employees, colleagues, suppliers, and customers

• Accurate with good attention to detail

• Creative approach to problem solving

• A good eye for colour – The importance of accurate colour distinction in this role may require that the candidate undergoes colour vision testing.

The role is largely office based within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, necessitating proactive management of the packaging work stream, whilst maintaining flexibility and enthusiasm as a team player working alongside multi-disciplinary project teams.
