We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Packaging Technologist to join our client, a major player in the health and beauty sector.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To develop quality & functional packaging which satisfy the requirements of specific and speculative customer briefs.
Provide technical support to all related departments within the company on all packaging development issues.
To originate, issue, control and maintain Packaging Component Specifications. Maintain PIF files.
Attend and advise NPD meetings, re packaging component development details.
Identify, brief, control, carry out and conclude to agreed deadlines required compatibility testing of all packaging components within all NPD & PCP activity.
Identify, evaluate and bring to the company new packaging concepts and technologies to deliver innovative leading edge and/or improved efficiencies/cost savings.
Undertake external audits of supplier’s and third party contractors and participate in vendor appraisal/evaluation.
Project management of packaging developments internally & externally for NPD & PCP against agreed timeplans and within company procedures.
Co-ordination of production line trials as part of the companies NPD and PCP programs and update engineering and production on an ongoing basis.
Approving artwork ensuring it is technically correct and uses suitable print methods.
Liaison with Customers and Design Houses as required.
Attend print approvals and Colour Matching as required.
Sign off in-coming Packaging component standards .
Packaging Testing: Hedley, Leak, Transit and any other testing as required.
Support Purchasing and Sales Team on Packaging Costings. Feasibility, NPD and PCPs

SCOPE OF JOB

To conform to Company Standards.
Maintenance of areas of responsibility and ensure compliance with GMP,
all relevant legislation and company standards.
Collaborate, both with internal and external customers, to uphold and continually improve the companies standards & profile.

THE PERSON

Min. 2 years pack technology experience
Industrial experience in manufacturing/operational background in toiletries and/or pharmaceuticals.
Broad range of packaging experience.
University degree and/or Diploma in Packaging from the Institute of Packaging.
Production/engineering knowledge
Sound commercial knowledge

Very well organised
Self starter & team player
Outgoing as will have mix with all departments.
Good communicator both orally and written.
Good presentation skills
Can prioritise workload and work under pressure.
Project management skills
Problem solving/analytical skills
Computer literate
