The Packaging Repro Manager role is a key role at our client company, providing creative, artwork, pre-press production services and consultancy. The team comprises Account Management, Production Management, Technical Management, Creative and Production, and are responsible for delivery of all packaging related activity.

You will be responsible for the production and development of the Packaging repro technical capability to ensure production of repro to the highest standards of technical accuracy and
efficiency.

It is anticipated that the role will be 50% production and 50% management.
Key Accountabilities
Technical Management
Provide packaging repro & print technical management including:
Pre-production assessment
Creating production technical specifications
Technical approval of artwork and repro
Press approval
Print challenge resolution
Value optimisation and colour harmonisation
Provide technical support to packaging team to ensure packaging repro is of the highest standard and fit for purpose
Technical consultancy
Provide packaging repro & print technical consultancy including:
Provision packaging repro & print technical consultancy to customers as required
Support the Packaging Manager in the development of the packaging repro and proofing capability
Provide on-going packaging technical support to onsite production controllers and account team
Act as escalation point for print quality, colour and print management matters
Pre-production
Attend pre-production meetings to assess print feasibility of new designs/projects
Establish appropriate repro and print specifications
Create production technical brief
Approve artwork masters against technical brief
Repro & proofing production
Responsible for the production of packaging repro (primary) and artwork (secondary)
Responsible for the production and management of packaging proofing
Responsible for the release of approved files to printer via FTP
Colour Management
Lead the customer’s packaging colour management strategy and agenda to achieve colour consistency across
substrates, formats, processes, inks and finishes
Support colour management hardware and software agenda
System and Process
Responsible for contributing to the continuous improvement of packaging production systems and processes under
the direction of the Packaging Manager
Quality Management
Responsible for contribution to the development and maintenance of effective Quality Control processes and
procedures
Required knowledge, skills and experience
Able to communicate at all levels, with production colleagues, customers and printers
Able to build and maintain strong customer and colleague relationships
Be conversant with key briefing and production requirements for packaging artwork and pre-press
Experience of working with online project management and approval systems
Expert knowledge of packaging artwork & repro software, including the Adobe and Esko suite of production tools.
Working knowledge of template driven artwork creation, and QC software applications
Detailed technical understanding of all packaging print processes and materials
Detailed technical understanding of print production tools
Detailed technical conversancy of printed packaging formats
In depth knowledge of colour management, harmonisation, measurement and proofing
Extensive experience of working in the prepress industry and directly with packaging printers/converters
Able to go head to head with a printer to resolve technical challenges and print issues on behalf of our customers
Have an exceptional eye for detail and meticulously high quality standards
Have an ambition and the capability to be industry leading
Experienced in production and management, able to produce industry standard repro, and develop others
Able to collaborate with an established team to nurture and develop new knowledge and skills
Circa 10 years experience of packaging artwork and repro.
