A multinational household brand is expanding its packaging team and is seeking an experienced packaging technologist/engineer, who has minimum 5 years’ experience in packaging technology and is ready to move a notch up in their packaging journey. You need to be open to new design possibilities and bring them to life through your technical expertise, problem solving outlook and collaboration with all stakeholders.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who knows CPG and NPD packaging development; because our client will be taking you on a roller coaster ride of your packaging knowledge. You need to know what a trigger does that a pump cannot, PCR from PIR, bore plug seal from v notch seal…. you get the idea.

The role sits within the EU Product experience function (R&D) function and requires owning and delivering end-to-end NPD packaging projects working directly on a consumer-lead Innovation pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Happily, lead Packaging development and testing of NPD and Supply chain/Operations led packaging projects.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to deliver innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for products through the product-packaging lifecycle.
  • Conduct in-depth technical feasibility assessments on packaging design, including environmental impact, supply chain, manufacturing, cost drivers, potential IP issues and consumer impact
  • Be the voice on advocating good karma packaging and guide team members through the complexities of what goes into sourcing and making packaging recyclable and manufactured with recycled content.
  • Develop and execute package qualification plans, line trials, mold sampling, and equipment capability studies to ensure a successful commercialization.
  • Create packaging related specifications, finished product manuals and manage data accuracy in Project Lifecycle Management software SAP.
  • Support the wider packaging community and R&D colleagues on sharing new technologies, product ideas, best practices, packaging knowledge and humble bragging on learnings from attending conferences, factory visits, webinars etc.
  • Travel and work independently at manufacturing and vendor sites.

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Essential: BS in Packaging/Engineering/related field.
  • Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience with ISBM, EBM and/or injection molding
  • Essential: Custom mould development and statistical qualification of tools
  • Essential: Experience of working with post-consumer recycled plastics and paper
  • Essential: Proven understanding of packaging components, supplier processes, manufacturing processes
  • Essential: Experience in liquid/powder fill manufacturing environments
  • Essential: An understanding of component printing/decoration techniques
  • Essential: Fluency in English. Writing, reading and speaking.
  • Essential: A positive and clear communicator— articulate ideas, voice constructive opinions.
  • Essential: Proficient in working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Essential: Experience in working with Amazon E-com testing and certification process.
  • Desirable: An understanding of both mechanical and chemical recycling process
  • Desirable: Experience of working with AutoCAD or Solidworks, SAP, Palletisation software.
  • Desirable: Ability to deep dive into conversations around Star Wars, Stranger things and Fortnite!!
