Job Title: Operations Manager – Corrugated Packaging

Salary: up to £75k per annum (depending on experience)

Location: North England

Due to continued growth and significant long-term customer demand, our client — a well-established corrugated packaging manufacturer — is looking to appoint an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to lead a fast-paced production environment.

This is a senior operational leadership role suited to a strong manufacturing professional with excellent production knowledge, mechanical understanding, and the ability to drive performance, efficiency, and high standards across the operation.

This is not a desk-based management role.

The successful candidate will be highly visible on the factory floor, lead from the front, solve problems quickly, and bring out the very best in both people and machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading day-to-day manufacturing operations within a busy production department
  • Driving output, efficiency, uptime, and operational performance
  • Reducing downtime, waste, and recurring production issues
  • Hands-on fault finding and practical problem solving
  • Improving production processes, machine performance, and operational consistency
  • Training, mentoring, and developing production teams
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives across the department
  • Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety, quality, and housekeeping
  • Managing labour planning, recruitment, and team structure
  • Working closely with senior leadership on operational strategy and performance
  • Ensuring customer expectations around quality and delivery are consistently achieved

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Proven experience in a packaging corrugated environment
  • Strong operational leadership skills within a fast-paced production setting
  • A hands-on management style with excellent problem-solving ability
  • Good mechanical awareness and understanding of production machinery
  • Experience leading teams, improving performance, and driving efficiencies
  • A proactive and organised approach with strong communication skills
  • The ability to thrive under pressure and deliver results
