Job Title: Data Processor

Salary: £Depending on Experience

Location: West Midlands

Reference: J7246

Our client is looking to recruit a Data Processor to join its production team.

This is a detail-critical role responsible for the accurate preparation, processing and verification of variable data used within controlled production environments. Working as part of a small team, you will handle large volumes of data, including barcodes, serialised information and variable-data files, ensuring everything is accurate, traceable and ready for production.

The role would suit someone who is highly methodical, technically confident and exceptionally detail-oriented, with the ability to follow controlled procedures and question anything that does not look right. Experience within security printing, labels, packaging, digital print or another quality-critical manufacturing environment would be advantageous, although we would also consider candidates with strong data-processing or technical administration experience who can demonstrate the required level of accuracy and attention to detail.

You will be working to tight production deadlines, where accuracy, confidentiality and traceability are essential and a single error can have significant consequences for the finished production batch.

Essential

High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Confident using computer software and data-entry systems
Ability to work with large volumes of data without compromising accuracy
Understanding of barcodes, variable data and serialisation
Ability to follow controlled procedures and work instructions
Strong checking and verification skills
Good organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks
Strong understanding of confidentiality and data security
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work within a quality-critical / security-conscious manufacturing environment

Desirable

Experience using Quadient or similar variable-data/barcode software
Experience with hashing/encryption, data encoding or secure serialisation
Experience producing 2D barcodes, such as Data Matrix or QR codes
Knowledge of GS1 standards or barcode verification
Experience in printing, labels, packaging or high-security manufacturing
Experience working with CSV, Excel or database-generated data
Understanding of prepress, artwork or digital print workflows
Experience with quality-control checks and audit trails
Previous experience working with variable-data printing (VDP)
Familiarity with ISO-controlled procedures and document control

We are looking for someone who is:

Meticulous – understands that a single incorrect character or barcode can make an entire production batch unusable.
Methodical – follows the process every time rather than relying on memory.
Technically curious – willing to learn Quadient and understand how the data is generated and processed.
Security-minded – understands the importance of protecting sensitive customer and production data.
Questioning attitude – willing to stop and investigate something that doesn’t look right.
Calm under pressure – able to maintain accuracy when working to production deadlines.
Accountable – takes ownership of the data and output they produce.
