We have an opportunity to join a well-known company in the industry for its innovative design of cosmetic packaging. This is a young, fun company who have a work hard play hard attitude!

As a Packaging Technologist you will be assisting with the product development, technical analysis / verification, and quality aspects of custom and stock packaging. You will be working on a diverse range of products across the Beauty & Personal Care category.

You will assist in compiling information to support in the checking of details about product quality, testing, processes, and compliance as required during the entire product lifecycle, from technical drawing and sampling through to factory production.

You will bring some experience and knowledge of packaging manufacturing techniques and quality processes into your daily work.

Role Activities

• Interrogate the packaging samples and specifications to make sure they meet the required dimensional, functional quality standards needed.

• Write up & share appropriate technical reports.

• Creating prototype parts on the 3D printer using Solidworks software.

• Assisting with compliance testing of new prototyping components, T samples and production samples.

• Assist in the checking of pre-shipment inspection reports, identifying areas of concern and escalating such issues to team members.

• Assist in checking test reports, certificates, and documents, ensuring the contents of such are correctly communicated and recorded in support of the product development cycle.

• Assist in the regular review of product quality and help in the follow up of corrective action plans and manufacturing based improvements.

• Following a project through from concept development to product sign off

• Research and development of new sustainable materials, innovative processes, and packaging concepts.

• Where required support in the engineering development of 3D CAD NPD packaging.

Skills and Qualities:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience of packaging specification and compliance setting.

• Must be able to communicate issues effectively to technical and non-technical business partners.

• Comfortable with working closely with the rest of the Engineering team in developing technical solutions.

• A good understanding of packaging types and development processes.

• Good design engineering knowledge.

• Understanding of typical packaging manufacturing processes.

• Excellent attention to detail

• Good communication skills, with an ability to communicate verbally and in writing, including technical writing.

• Reliable with good organisation skills and excellent time management

• A good problem-solving mind set, being solutions driven and the ability to investigate problems to find the root cause.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to make confident decisions based upon the information and data being presented.

• A good understanding of test standards and testing methods applicable to the area of responsibility.

• Ability to work as part of a team, where all members ‘muck-in’
