Role reports to: Director of Sales This is a rare opportunity for a Flexible Packaging Sales Expert to join one of the African Continent’s leading packaging companies. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Sales Manager with a technical background in flexible packaging production, including wrappers, sachets, pouches, polybags, lamitubes and labels. We are looking for candidates who are used to the ‘expat’ way of life – or have been thinking about this lifestyle, to embark on a new adventure in Africa. Our globally recognised Client, established in the 1970s, is one of the largest Packaging manufacturers in Africa. In that time, they have set up state of the art facilities and have regularly invested and upgraded them to meet the ever growing demands of their flexible packaging customers. Their packaging manufacturing units cater to their Customer requirements with Gravure & Flexo Printing Machinery, Solventless and Solvent based Two Ply and Three Ply Lamination Machines, High Capacity Three / Five / Seven Layered Extrusion Blown Lines, Tandem Extrusion Coating Line, (first of its kind in Africa) for producing various types of Extrusion based Laminates, Lamitube and preformed Pouches. The prioritisation of adequately stocked raw material to ensure timely supplies and consistent quality has also been a key contributor to their success. The objective of this Senior Sales Manager vacancy is to manage a wide range of small and large accounts accounts and to develop new business opportunities. The ideal Candidate will be from a Technical / Engineering / Manufacturing background which has developed into Sales as you will be responsible for driving sales growth with both existing and new customers. This technical / engineering / manufacturing background must be in plastics or chemicals. The role requires a deep understanding of the technical aspects of flexible packaging, excellent sales acumen, and the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships. Key Responsibilities: Sales Strategy and Execution: • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company sales targets and expand the customer base. • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the flexible packaging market. • Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitive activities to refine sales strategies. • Set and monitor sales targets, ensuring they align with the company’s overall objectives. • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns to support sales initiatives. Role Requirements: • At least 5 years in a senior sales role within the flexible packaging industry. • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth. • Extensive experience in managing key customer accounts and developing new business. Skills: • In-depth knowledge of flexible packaging products and production processes. • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and explain complex technical details. • Excellent sales and negotiation skills with a customer-centric approach. • Exceptional communication and presentation skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Proficiency in using CRM software and sales management tools. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Working Conditions: • This role requires frequent travel to meet with customers and attend industry events nationally. • Flexible working hours may be required to meet sales targets and customer needs.
