This is a rare opportunity for an industry expert to join one of Africa’s leading packaging companies. We are looking for candidates who are used to the expat way of life, or have been thinking about this lifestyle, to embark on a new adventure in Nigeria. A substantial off shore salary in dollars is on offer, along with a package that includes fully furnished accommodation, car, driver’s salary, house helper, home security, travel safe support, children’s private education if required, and family healthcare.
The Plant Head will have overall responsibility for the manufacturing operation, overall supervision of planning, maintenance and production function. The plant head is also responsible for identifying and developing talent within the organisation. Part of the senior management team, you will guide and mentor plant production and maintenance team. Success in this role will require a dynamic, result oriented leader with strong communication and presentation skills.
We are looking for someone with extensive experience in the packaging industry, managing a workforce of at least 300 employees. Experience managing ISO 9001 & ISO 22000 (or equivalent quality standards) would be an advantage.
Role Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for resource planning, production planning, productivity maximisation and waste control.
• Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures
• Develop efficient strategies to ensure the plant meets production goals and standards at minimal manufacturing costs.
• Analyse Production and Corrective Action Reports. Identify opportunities and build teams to solve problems and improve efficiencies and processes in the plant.
• Review schedules for Preventive maintenance and develop best practices for Preventive maintenance to ensure optimal use of machines, assets and resources.
• Health check and sign off all production equipment and ancillaries daily.
• Conduct a daily review of previous Day and Night shift production to ensure production meets machine efficiency and product quality standards and take corrective action where required.
• Supervise maintenance team on major breakdowns, machines or other technical issues affecting production. Instruct them to take appropriate action and set priority for corrective actions ensuring minimal machine downtime.
• Foster the culture of training and development to have well-trained and motivated staff with HR.
• Conducting performance reviews and motivating staff to meet production goals. Advise training plan for all Production staff and recommend promotion, career and succession planning.
• Develop and implement operational improvement systems such as the Customer Complaint and Corrective Action Reports to collect data, identify problem areas and build teams to improve the process.
• Plan, organise, direct, control, evaluate, and make recommendations, as well as associated plans to improve the plant functions.
• Coordinate QMS functions to achieve ISO, BRC and other customer and industry compliance audits.
